"Today was such a stressful day," Steve sighed as he got into bed next to you.

You put your arms across his chest and pulled him closer to you so that your head was resting on his shoulder. "Tough day at SHIELD?"

"Yeah," He nodded. "Fury has been giving loads of work. What sucks is that Stark keeps slacking off so the rest of us have to pick up the pieces."

You leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. "It's alright. Just think about it, just two more weeks and then the kids will be on vacation from school and we could go to Disney with them."

A smile graced his lips and he looked down at you with pure affection in his eyes. "I like the sound of that."

The two of you fell asleep in each other's arms, with a smile on your lips. It was a nice and peaceful slumber. The house was so silent, one could hear a pin drop. All was well until you were jolted awake by a clap of thunder. Your eyes popped opened and your heart drummed in your chest. Steve felt you stir and sat up to see what was wrong. He looked at you with concern in his eyes, thinking that you had had a nightmare.

"The thunder woke me up," You told him.

"Oh," He nodded. "Oh...you know what that means don't you?"

It took you several seconds to realize but then with a small sigh you sat up in bed and turned on the lamp. You counted down from three and exactly when you got to zero, your two daughters, Louisa and Marta came rushing into the room. They crawled into bed with you, Marta clinging onto Steve and Louisa onto you. Louisa buried her head in your arm, practically shaking with fear. Marta and Louisa were terrified of thunder. It was the number one fear they had besides the boogeyman. You put a comforting arm around her shoulder, soothing her cries. Steve did the same with Marta, holding her in his arms.

"It's alright girls, it's just thunder," Steve tried to comfort them.

"But it's so loud and scary," Marta pouted. Marta was a six year old with beautiful golden locks that made her look like an angel with her baby blue eyes. She of course inherited her looks from her father while Louisa inherited your looks. Louisa had long, stunning (h/c) hair and expressive (e/c) eyes that were big and full of wonder. She was the oldest of the two, being thirteen years old. Of course most thirteen year olds get over their fears but Louisa was different. She hated thunder with a passion. So when Marta ran to you or Steve, she followed, not wanting to be left alone in the room.

"I know, I know dearie," You cooed in a soothing motherly tone. "But the thunder can't get you in here."

Steve continued the girls and an idea came into your mind. It was like movie, The Sound Of Music. Maria had to deal with something similar to this and if it worked for her, why couldn't it work for you? You seated Louisa and Marta so that they were longer hiding behind you and Steve. They looked at you curiously and you gave them a big smile.

"You wanna know what I do when I'm scared?" You asked playfully.

"What?" Marta cocked her head to the side curiously.

"I sing~"

"Sing?" Louisa blinked. "How does that help?"

"Here let me show you." You cleared your throat and started to think of the lyrics. Thankfully, you remembered every word. Steve would catch on soon since you had shown him the movie some time ago and the two of you had watched it over twenty times.

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things~!"

You sang with your heart's content and Steve grinned, catching on to what you were doing. Your daughters were starting to look less scared and giggled, enjoying your singing. They had heard the song before and it had become one of their favorites.

"Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things~"

At this point, you, Marta, Louisa, and Steve were jumping all over the bed, laughing all your worries away. Marta was giggling like a free spirited child and Louisa was singing along with you. Steve was certainly happy that the most important girls in the world were happy as well. He picked up Marta and threw her in the air, making her laugh. You danced with Louisa, taking her hands and jumping/spinning around with her. You were all enjoying yourselves. Who cares if it was three in the morning and your neighbors would probably yell at you for this tomorrow? What mattered was that you daughters were having fun. So as you sang through the song, you made sure to sing the last bit with all your heart.

"When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel.....so bad~~!"

You all plopped down on the bed, laughing your heads off.

"So are you girls still scared?" Steve asked them with a grin.

"Nu-uh!" Marta shook her head. "I'm not scared anymore!"

"Me neither!"" Louisa exclaimed with a giggle.

You smiled at them and ruffled their hair. "Good now let's go to sleep before the neighbors call the cops on us."

And just one last time, you all laughed, the sound filling up the whole house. After that, you slept together peacefully, gleeful smiles on your lips.

If I am correct, Marta and Louisa were the two actual daughters in the real Sound of Music. I was listening to the song and thought, why not make a fic out of it? And BEHOLD.

I like this one. I think it's really cute especially with the children. This is my last submission for the day so I hope you guys enjoyed!
